Workers Leaving The Lumière Factory in Lyon (also known as La Sortie des
usines Lumière à Lyon) - a documentary, the first motion pictures shot
by Lumiere Brothers in Lyon, France on 19 March 1895. The film was
screened for the first time during private projection on 22 March 1895.
The public debut at the Grand Café came a few months later and consisted of the ten short films.
Each film was 17 meters long, and run for approximately 50 seconds.
The interesting fact is that Lumiere Brothers shot Sortie des usines
Lumière à Lyon for the three times, because they were not satisfied from
one version. The last attempt was according to them the best one
because it was caught in a film frame consisting of the beginning and
the ending (door opens, workers leave and door closes).
